List of specialties of the I stage of higher education
The content of education at the faculty meets the requirements of the State educational standard. The specialty "Biology and Chemistry" is a classic for the natural science departments of pedagogical universities. Students are trained according to standard curricula, providing for the study of disciplines of basic biological and chemical, basic natural sciences, general professional and socio-humanitarian courses, including pedagogy, psychology, teaching methods of specialty disciplines - biology and chemistry, etc.
Training sessions in the disciplines of the specialty include theoretical courses, as well as a variety of laboratory and practical classes that are conducted using modern laboratory equipment, instruments, IT-technologies. In the organization of the educational process, much attention is paid to the development of educational-methodical complexes of disciplines (including electronic ones), which allow organizing students' independent work effectively. The main disciplines of the specialty:
foundations of general geography
microbiology with the basics of biotechnology
biological foundations of agriculture
histology with the basics of embryology
human and animal physiology
general and inorganic chemistry
physical and colloid chemistry
polymer chemistry basics
modern methods of obtaining and researching substances
chemistry teaching methodology
teaching methodology of biology
A feature of training at the faculty is the orientation toward the training of a specialist who is as ready as possible for the implementation of practical work. An important component of the learning process are training and production practices in the disciplines of the specialty. A significant part of the study time is allocated to them - 23 weeks.
Training practices are conducted mainly in the summer intersessional time. Practices make it possible to consolidate the knowledge gained during the classroom, develop skills for setting up scientific experiments and master the methods of observation and collecting material for writing final qualifying works, prepare for independent work in the specialty. During training practices, students comprehend the research work. Often, it is with the training practice that their first steps begin in an independent scientific research, which develops into a diploma work, and then a master's and master's thesis.
As part of general biological training, students of 1-4 courses undergo practical training in zoology (vertebrates and invertebrates) and botany (morphology, systematics and plant physiology, algology, mycology), the basics of agriculture, the organization of a school biological experiment, the methodology of teaching biology, ecology. For these purposes, the faculty effectively uses the Zelenoe agrobiostation located in the vicinity of Minsk. In its territory, in addition to the educational building, there is a dendrological site, where common and rare tree and shrub plants are collected; flower and decorative collection nursery; Experienced school and production sites.
Manufacturing practices (at 3 and 4 courses) are held at the bases of secondary educational institutions in Minsk (as a rule, these are the best schools, gymnasiums and lyceums of the city). Students apply theoretical knowledge in pedagogy, psychology and specialty disciplines - biology, chemistry, and also master methodical methods of teaching and educational work with schoolchildren, acquire the skills of lesson and extracurricular work, research of pedagogical and scientific-methodological nature.
