The content of education at the faculty meets the requirements of the State educational standard. The specialty "Biology and Geography" is a classic for the natural sciences departments of pedagogical universities. Students are trained according to standard curricula that include the study of basic geographical and biological disciplines, basic natural science, general professional and social and humanitarian courses, including pedagogy, psychology courses, teaching methods of specialty disciplines - biology of igeography, etc.

Classes in the disciplines of the specialty include theoretical courses, as well as a variety of laboratory and practical classes that are conducted using modern laboratory equipment, instruments, IT-technologies. In the organization of the educational process, much attention is paid to the development of educational-methodical complexes of disciplines (including electronic ones), which allow organizing students' independent work effectively.

A feature of training at the faculty is the orientation toward the training of a specialist who is as ready as possible for the implementation of practical work. An important component of the learning process are training and production practices in the disciplines of the specialty. A significant part of the study time is allocated to them - 30 weeks.

Training practices are conducted mainly in the summer intersessional time. Practices make it possible to consolidate the knowledge gained during the classroom, develop skills in setting up scientific experiments and master the methods of observation and collecting material for writing final qualification works, and prepare for independent work in the specialty. During training practices, students learn the basics of research. Often, it is with academic practice that their first steps begin in an independent scientific research, which develops into a thesis, and then into a master's and candidate's dissertation.

As part of general biological training, students of 1-4 courses undergo practical training in zoology (vertebrates and invertebrates) and botany (morphology, systematics and plant physiology, algology, mycology), the basics of agriculture, the organization of a school biological experiment, the methodology of teaching biology, ecology. For these purposes, the faculty effectively uses the Zelenoe agrobiostation, located in the vicinity of Minsk. In its territory, in addition to the educational building, there is a dendrological site, where common and rare tree and shrub plants are collected; flower and decorative collection nursery; Experienced school and production sites.

Training practices in the geographical sciences - meteorology, hydrology, geomorphology, soil science, school tourism are conducted on the 2nd and 3rd courses in the vicinity of Minsk and the Zelenoe agrobiostation. Exit comprehensive practice in economic, social and physical geography, which lasts for 18 days in the 4th year, allows to expand the study area, to get acquainted with the socio-economic diversity of Belarus. The routes of this practice cross the territory of the republic in different directions, allowing students to see with their own eyes the diversity and richness of the nature of our country, to get acquainted with its people, industries, and sights. The presence of agreements on cooperation with universities of neighboring countries give the opportunity to the most successful students to undergo this practice at the bases of these universities - in the Sea of Azov, Crimea, and the Curonian Spit.

Production practices (at the 3rd and 4th courses) are held at the bases of secondary educational institutions in Minsk (as a rule, these are the best schools, gymnasiums and lyceums of the city). Students apply theoretical knowledge in pedagogy, psychology and disciplines of a specialty - biology, geography, and also master the teaching methods of educational and upbringing work with schoolchildren, acquire the skills of lesson and extracurricular work, conducting research of a pedagogical and scientific-methodological nature.
